Jared Abraham is an Educator and Architectural Designer based in Pittsburgh, PA. For the past several years, Jared has been working with architecture firms and city planning departments on high-level design, concept and execution of Architecture and Urban Design projects. His work varies in scale, from parks and master plans to the design of single-family residences, creative offices and cultural buildings. Jared is currently a faculty member at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Architecture.
In 2016 Jared was awarded a two-year Postgraduate Fellowship at the Yale Urban Design Workshop (YUDW). While at YUDW he worked on several projects including Resilient Bridgeport, an offshoot of the federally funded Rebuild by Design competition held in the aftermath of hurricane Sandy. In conjunction with his fellowship work, Jared received a faculty appointment at the Yale School of Architecture in 2018, where he taught Introduction to Urban Design. In 2020, Resilient Bridgeport earned an AIA Excellence Award in Urban Design and Planning.
Prior to his time at the YSOA, Jared was an Associate at Allied Works Architecture, LLC, a multi-award winning firm based in Portland, Oregon and New York City. As an Associate, he was responsible for leading the design of several major projects including The United States Embassy, Maputo, Mozambique; the Ohio Veterans Memorial and Museum, Columbus, Ohio; and the Sokol Blosser Winery, Dundee, Oregon. Jared has also worked as a Designer at Cosmarq Arquitectos in Madrid, Spain, where he collaborated on the design of a new research facility for the European Space Agency.
Jared holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the School of Architecture and Allied Arts at the University of Oregon (’07) and a Masters of Architecture from the Yale School of Architecture (’16) where he was awarded the Richard D. Cohen Scholarship for Outstanding Design Ability. He has contributed work to multiple publications released by the YSOA, and served as a Contributing Editor for Edward Mitchell’s Common Wealth (2016). In addition to his work in professional practice, Jared has been an invited critic at the University of Cincinnati DAAP, the University of Oregon College of Design, Portland State University School of Architecture, the Yale School of Architecture, Cooper Union, NYIT School of Architecture & Design, Pratt Institute, the University at Buffalo, Carnegie Mellon University School of Architecture, and Barnard + Columbia in New York City.
